Prof. Fatheya A. Soliman

Founder and General Manager

Member of the BAT4 MED Team

Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University. Besides her academic position, she has significant experience in the environmental domain through her work as a consultant and her delegation from the Faculty of Engineering to projects funded by external donors such as the USAID, the UNIDO, World Bank, and other European funding agencies. She is also an accredited consultant by the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA) affiliated to the Ministry of Environmental affairs.

Prof. Ali Khattab

Professor of Mechanical Design and Engineering Tribology. Besides his academic position, Dr. Khattab has a renowned industrial and environmental experience in the design and specifications of the state of art pollution abatement equipment through:

  • Design & Supervision of manufacturing of pollution control systems for several industrial sectors
  • Upgrading of production facilities to attain compliance
  • Khattab has a long list of patents and publications in pollution abatement equipment.

Dr. Mohamed Merdan

Dr. Mohamed Merdan is a Lecturer at the production Engineering & Manufacturing  Technology  Department, Modern  Academy  for Engineering and Technology in El-Maadi. Since 1982 he has more than 29 years of teaching experience for the undergraduate students and postgraduate. He supervised many undergraduate projects and many master and diploma theses at the Military Technical College (M.T.C) and other universities.  He has judging a number of research papers prior to publications, sharing in the examination committees for number of M.Sc and Diploma thesis.

Dr. Merdan has good record in the industrial experience such as “Feasibility study for Al and Cu smelter – Design of a workshop to maintain and overhaul trucks and agricultural equipment for The Sixth of October Company for Agricultural Projects   – Production Manager of High Technology Production Facility – Quality Control Manager in High Technology Production Facility – Industrial Facilities Planning – Design and Layout of Secondary Lead Smelting Facility Using the State-of-the-Art Technology –  Design of Workshop to maintain and overhaul light and heavy duty trucks for Cairo Cleaning and Beautification Authority – Design and Layout of a Reinforcing Steel Mill – Evaluation of Fresh Company for Natural Juice and Jam, and United Technology and Engineering Company for Dies, Moulds and Spare Parts Design and Manufacturing – Upgrading the Production Lines of Medium Size Facilities – The design of Engineering Documents and the manufacture of a vast number of Stocked Spare Parts for the Ministry of irrigation and water resources”.

Assoc. Prof. Tamer M. Abdel Aziz

Eng. Mohamed Sherif

Eng. Sherif is a chemical engineer graduated from faculty of engineering at Cairo University and held a diploma degree in “Design and Installation of Solar Energy System” from SOLEDA Program which funded by TEMPUS.

Eng. Sherif was involved in various trainings, workshops and scientific missions. Seemingly he was also involved in various environmental, energy and solid waste management project.

His experience includes:

  • Participating in  preparation  of  more  than  50  Environmental  Impact Assessment Studies EIAs.
  • Participating in the preparation of many Environmental Registers and Compliance Action Plans C
  • Working as a project coordinator and trainer in project funded by Gef which aims to develop training modules aimed at raising awareness and building capacities of Customs and other relevant officers on “hazardous chemicals and waste with special focus on Electronic waste (E-waste) and Medical waste under Stockholm, Basel, and Rotterdam conven
  • Working as project coordinator and environmental specialist in project funded by National Solid Waste Management Program NSWMP aims to prepare the Master Plan of Solid Waste Management for Qalyoubia, New- Valley, Red-Sea and South-Sinai Governorate
  • Supervising the Construction of Solid waste management factory at El Minya Governorate with capacity (300 t/day).
